Financing investments that help to improve infrastructure, e.g. the construction and modernisation of airports the world over, is part of our core business.

Financing case Düsseldorf Airport: Safety and Energy Efficiency

One example of a project that aims to support Germany's transport infrastructure is the financing of a various infrastructure measures at Düsseldorf Airport with a view to improving safety, boosting energy efficiency and optimising handling processes. For this KfW IPEX-Bank is providing a EUR 50 million loan.

Around 21 million passengers each year

As an aviation hub with around 21 million passengers each year, Düsseldorf Airport is the largest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia. Flights operated by up to 60 airlines depart from here to more than 180 destinations worldwide. In one of Europe's most economically dynamic regions, Düsseldorf Airport is crucial in terms of meeting the mobility needs of both private citizens and businesses.

    Investments in airport infrastructure

The investment measures in Düsseldorf include modernising the fire rescue routes and safety lighting systems so that wide-bodied aircraft can be handled safely, plus optimising route planning at Gate B and completely rehabilitating taxiway L7. Furthermore, the entire power supply system on the airfield is to be made more energy-efficient to meet the demands of new aircraft types during standing and handling times on the ground.
