KfW IPEX-Bank finances broadband expansion in greater Cologne/Bonn

KfW IPEX-Bank is financing the development and expansion of broadband infrastructure in the greater Cologne/Bonn area by the telecommunications company NetCologne. KfW IPEX-Bank is a long-time partner of the Cologne-based company. The financing totalling EUR 45 million includes funds from the KfW promotional programme 'Municipal and Social Enterprises'. Expanding the superfast fibre-optic network will provide households with new transmission rates of up to 1 Gbit/s.

NetCologne is a regional network provider for telephony, TV, Internet and data services for both retail and corporate customers in the Cologne/Bonn area. In the course of the current and ongoing network expansion, NetCologne will ensure that nearly all school buildings, additional private households and commercial businesses are connected.

In financing this project KfW IPEX-Bank is helping to expand the sustainable and digital infrastructure in greater Cologne/Bonn while also contributing to the progressive digitalisation of Germany.
